Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the body, particularly the core muscles, improving flexibility, and promoting overall body awareness. Joseph Pilates developed it in the early 20th century, combining elements of yoga, dance, and gymnastics. Pilates exercises can be performed on a mat or using specialized equipment like the Reformer and EXO Chair. Pilates suits people of all fitness levels and can be adapted to meet individual needs and goals. It is often used for rehabilitation, general fitness, and enhancing athletic performance.
Posture that will make ya mama proud. No, but really. Pilates is designed to strengthen, stretch, and align, allowing your body to restore its natural movement patterns; thus, it helps you to bend not break. This makes pilates ideal for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Sculpting muscles you didn’t even know existed is one of the perks of a regular pilates practice. Other perks include: toned arms, sculpted core, lifted glutes, and feeling like a total badass.
